FAW Chapter 2: My farm

It had been a month since I arrived into this new world. During these past month I have been working really hard to gain more knowledge about this world as well as establish my business. I also renovated my house so it looked more like a house. To summarize how things looked right now. I must praise myself. Because of my [Growth] skill I could harvest my plants much faster. With my goods I then either sold or ex-changed them for something else. And because my goods were of high quality many people came to me for them. When the village chied asked why my plants grew much quicker I revealed my powers. He told me I must have been loved by The Mother otherwise I wouldn’t have been blessed by such wonderful gifts. But he also warned me to be aware of who I showed them too. Since this world was full of scums who would kidnap me and turn me into their slaves so that they could use my power for their own purpose. Which I certainly took a note at.

Around my farm I built a fence out of wood and barbed wire, who I asked Nor the smith to make. I also had helped constructing a water mill so that we could bring water closer to the village. Because of this they no longer had to wander into the dangerous woods were wild animals and dangerous creatures roamed. Because I was closest to the water mill, or rather it was right at the left corner of my farm, I could keep an eye on it so that no one destroyed it or anything.

On my farm I had put wood fence here also so that I could seperate certain areas. The area at the right corner was closest to water so I made a pond there which was used for rice, bamboo, cranberry etc. It had an area of about one-hundred square meters. The next area which was next to it were the trees’. For now I only had apple, lemon, orange, plum and pear trees but hoped in the future to have more other kind of trees. And because of my special ability I was able to grow them quickly. And this area took about the same square meters as the pond. If you walked downwards from the trees’ area you would get to grape plantantion which had area of about eighty-one square meters. Beside this area was the tomato, eggplant, potato, sweet potato, carrot, onion, cabbage, pumpkin, corn fields which each had an area of nine square meters. Then we have the sixteen square meter area which is my backyard. It’s the place for my flowers to grow. They take a little longer to grow than the others even with [Growth].

As for the amount of time it takes for everything to grow before I can harvest…

This starts to look more and more like Farmville. Which made me sometimes wonder if I had ended up in the game somehow. But I also realized they it couldn’t be like that because of the peoples clothes which looked to be medieval. Because these people in the village were either farmers or smiths it was hard to tell. But sometimes carriages with noble people would pass by our village and I could see that they wore high medieval dresses and costumes.

But because of this fast growth rate the village didn’t have to worry about starving. Some children when they had free time came over and helped me harvest. Because they worked hard I always rewarded them with giving some of my goods to them. This also increased my friendly relationship with the villagers. But it wasn’t just giving them goods that increased it. I also helped them by giving them advices as to how get a more bountiful harvests like for example wheat. Because wheat was plant that consumed a lot of the earths nutrients it often led the next wheat crop to fail because it doesn’t get much nutrients. Therefore I told them a way for them to keep having a bountiful harvest. Which was to use a rotation system. They would divide their field into four areas. In two of the areas they would plant clover because clover was a plant that didn’t take up much of the earth’s nutrients and also could restore them a bit. Clover was also good food for their cows. And then on the other two empty areas they would plant wheat. And after the harvest they would rotate and use the areas were the clover previusly had been in to plant wheat and vice versa.

I also helped them construct a windmill that would help the villagers to mill their wheat or any other cereal into flour. This thing would be done in about a month from now because it was hard getting the materials for it.

Because my farm was very big I took the oppurtunity to build a storage, a barn for future animals and a roost. I also took the oppurtunity to build another house if someone ever needed a place to stay in. These buildings weren’t done yet but I expected them to be within another few months. Because I was building them myself it would take a few months to get them done.

Something that I’ve thought about lately is to hire people, and also buy animals, but grandpa thought it would be better to buy slaves that way I wouldn’t need to pay them. Which disgusted me a lot however now that I thought about it I might as well buy slaves and then hire them as normal people. That’s why I’m going to the royal capital since it was the biggest city. And I would have a higher chance to likely find the things that I’m looking for there. In the meantime I asked the children who had helped me with my farm to look after it while I was gone.
